The MIRS, in liaison with the Mayne Island Library, commenced a program in January 2020 with the Mayne Island Public School called Pollution Solutions. It was to run until Earth Day in mid-April. The program targeted two age groups — K to Grade 3, and Grades 4 to 7. A major part of the program was completed. Environmental books were purchased for the school library, storytime and research-related projects were accomplished, and a recycled art project coordinated by Annette Witteman was held. Unfortunately the Earth Day event and the tour of the Recycling Depot had to be cancelled because of the Covid-19 restrictions. The cooperation with the school was a very positive one from the viewpoint of all, and we felt very grateful to have had our proposal accepted. It resulted in the teachers devoting this semester
