Resulting from the recommendations of our first feasibility study group, a number of Mayne Island households were recruited to take up the challenge to bring re-usable containers when shopping. Several ads in The MayneLiner magazine were placed. Approximately 20 Households took part and, tabulated over a two-month period in the fall of 2019, they
significantly reduced their use of single-use plastic. It was considered a successful program in reducing the use of single use plastic on Mayne Island, and in addition, this campaign also gave us the opportunity to raise awareness with the rest of the community.
