Effective February 1, 2022, a provincially mandated deposit fee will be charged for milk containers at point of purchase. This applies to milk containers of all sizes, both plastic and cartons, and also applies to milk substitutes such as soy milk, almond milk and oat milk.
This deposit regulation does NOT apply to: containers of buttermilk, whipping cream, all other various types of cream, condensed or evaporated milk, infant formula, dietary or meal replacement supplements (e.g. Boost), drinkable yogurt, dairy concentrates, modified milk- derived products (e.g. kafir), or other dairy products such as yogurt, pudding, sour cream, cheese, ice-cream, etc. The deposit fees on milk containers can be redeemed at a Bottle Depot. For those people bringing their containers to our Recycling Depot, there will be a separate tote for your deposit milk containers. All other dairy containers will continue to be collected with the non-deposit plastic, paper and metal containers. Covid operations still currently apply at the Depot — altered schedule; only 3 cars at a time in the depot bays; mask wearing is mandatory. |
