Every spring, community members join up with their neighbourhood crews to tackle garbage and recycling removal from beaches around the island. The refuse is taken to the recycling depot, where it is weighed and sorted and brought to facilities off island. Cleaner plastic, Styrofoam, tires, and other material is taken to Ocean Legacy for a new lease on life! Last year, we were able to divert 76% of collected material to their program.
